Heute morgen haben wir uns von Horst und Helga verabschiedet. Danach sind sie zur Nordseite des Weißen Sees gefahren. Dort haben sie einen einsamen, wunderschönen Platz mit Blick auf de See gefunden:

Wir selbst fahren noch einmal auf die Südseite des Sees, um ein paar Fotos zu machen. Dabei begegnen wir einer großen Herde Yaks, die in Ufernähe grasen. Ein wunderschöner Anblick:

Dann geht es endgültig wieder Richtung Osten. Hier am Weißen See hatten wir den westlichsten Punkt unserer Reise durch die Mongolei erreicht.

Ich selbst hadere noch ein bisschen mit mir, weil wir uns nicht auf die Pisten zum Chöwsgöl Nuur Nationalpark gewagt haben. Dafür wollen wir heute einen dritten Versuch wagen, um die Heißen Quellen von Tsetserleg zu erreichen. Inzwischen wissen wir auch, wo eine Brücke sein soll. Das muss doch zu machen sein!

Auf dem Weg zu den Quellen, machen wir aber zuerst Station an einer markanten Schlucht. Hier hat sich der Chuluut Fluss tief in das vulkanische Gestein des Khorgo Vulkans eingegraben:

Und dann erreichen wir wieder Tsetserleg.

Nach einem ausgezeichneten Fairfield Hamburger im Fairfield Guesthouse wagen wir den dritten Versuch, die heißen Quellen zu erreichen. Eigentlich sind das nur gut 20 Kilometer. Aber die haben es in sich. Wir müssen unbedingt die Brücke über den Fluss finden, sonst wird es wieder nichts.

Und tatsächlich. Diesmal finden wir die Brücke und auch die beiden kleineren, die uns sicher auf die andere Seite des Flusses bringen. Pech nur, dass wir uns zwei Tage später, auf der Rückfahrt von einem vorweg fahrenden Transporter in die Irre führen lassen und dann doch ins Wasser müssen:

Nach dem stressfreien Aufenthalt in dem besten Ger-Camp an den Quellen …

… nehmen wir diese Herausforderung diesmal aber relativ gelassen und unserer Patriot schafft es jeweils ans andere Ufer.

El tercer intento

Hoy por la mañana nos despedimos de Horst y Helga. Después condujeron hacia el lado norte del Lago Blanco. Allí encontraron un hermoso y solitario lugar con vista al lago:

Nosotros conducimos una vez más hacia el lado sur del lago para tomar algunas fotos. Nos encontramos con una gran manada de yaks pastando cerca de la costa. Una hermosa vista:

Entonces finalmente está de vuelta hacia el este. Aquí, en el Lago Blanco, habíamos llegado al punto más occidental de nuestro viaje a través de Mongolia.

Me peleo un poco conmigo misma por no aventurarnos en las pistas hacia el Parque Nacional Chöwsgöl Nuur, pero al menos queremos hacer un tercer intento de llegar a las aguas termales de Tsetserleg. Mientras tanto, también sabemos dónde debería estar un puente. ¡Eso tiene que hacerse!

En el camino a los manantiales, primero nos detenemos en un profundo barranco. Aquí, el río Chuluut ha excavado en las rocas volcánicas del volcán Khorgo:

Y luego llegamos a Tsetserleg de nuevo.

Después de una excelente hamburguesa de Fairfield en la casa de huéspedes del mismo nombre, nos aventuramos en el tercer intento de llegar a las aguas termales. En realidad, eso es sólo unos 20 kilómetros. Pero lo tienen todo. Absolutamente tenemos que encontrar el puente sobre el río, de lo contrario no será nada de nuevo.

Y de hecho esta vez encontramos el puente y los dos más pequeños, que nos llevan seguros al otro lado del río. Es simplemente mala suerte que dos días después, en el camino de regreso, nos dejan desviar por un transportador, que pasa por la misma ruta y luego tenemos que meternos en el agua:

… lo tomamos este desafío con relativa calma y nuestro Patriota llega a la otra orilla sin problemas.

The third attempt

Today we said good-bye to Horst and Helga in the morning. Then they drove to the north side of the White Lake. There they found a lonely, beautiful place overlooking the lake:

We drive once more to the south side of the lake to take some pictures. There we encounter a large herd of yaks grazing near the shore. A beautiful sight:

Then it’s finally back to the east. Here at the White Lake we had reached the westernmost point of our journey through Mongolia.

I quarrel a bit with myself for not venturing on the tracks to Chöwsgöl Nuur National Park, but at least we want to make a third attempt to reach the Tsetserleg Hot Springs. Meanwhile, we also know where a bridge should be. That has to be done!

On the way to the springs, we first stop at a deep canyon. Here, the Chuluut River has dug deep into the volcanic rocks of Khorgo Volcano:

And then we reach Tsetserleg again.

After an excellent Fairfield hamburger in the guesthouse of the same name we venture the third attempt to reach the hot springs. Actually, that’s only about 20 kilometers. But they have it all. We absolutely have to find the bridge over the river, otherwise it will be nothing again.

And indeed. This time we find the bridge and the two smaller ones, which bring us safely to the other side of the river. It’s just bad luck that two days later, on the way back, we are led astray by transporter before us and then have to dive into the water:

… we take this challenge relatively calmly and our Patriot makes it to the other shore without problems.
