Aus welchen Gründen auch immer, auch nach Tagen in St. Petersburg kommt mir manchmal immer noch der alte Name „Leningrad“ über die Lippen. Dabei hat das moderne St. Petersburg so gar nichts mehr gemeinsam mit der alten Sowjetmetropole.

Hier ein Blick in ein bekanntes Spezialitätenrestaurant:

St. Petersburg ist eine – für mich – überraschend moderne und äußerst sehenswerte, wunderschöne Stadt, in die ich gerne noch einmal zurückkehren werde.

Hier einige Impressionen von den wichtigsten Sehenswürdigkeiten, die wir besucht haben, z.B. die Innenstadt, die ganz im Zeichen des bevorstehenden Nationalfeiertags steht, dem 9. Mai, dem Tag des Sieges im Großen Vaterländischen Krieg, dem Sieg über Hitlerdeutschland

Die Eremitage; ein Prachtbau, in dem man Tage verbringen müsste, um alles halbwegs angemessen aufzunehmen und zu würdigen. Uns taten nach ein paar Stunden die Füße weh:

Auch Moskau ist heute eine moderne Großstadt, die alles zu bieten hat, was eine Hochburg des Tourismus heutzutage vorzuweisen hat: Überwältigende sakrale und weltliche Bauten, ein architektonisch beeindruckendes Kaufhaus, das „GUM“ mit Luxuswaren aus aller Welt und ein reges kulturelles Leben.

San Petersburgo y Moscú

Por la razón que sea, incluso después de días en San Petersburgo, el antiguo nombre de „Leningrado“ a veces todavía aparece en mis labios. Sin embargo, la moderna San Petersburgo no tiene nada en común con la antigua metrópolis soviética.

Hoy en día, Moscú también es una metrópolis moderna que tiene todo lo que un baluarte turístico puede ofrecer hoy en día: abrumadores edificios sagrados y seculares, una tienda departamental de arquitectura impresionante, el „GUM“ con artículos de lujo de todo el mundo y una vibrante vida cultural.

St. Petersburg and Moscow

For whatever reason, even after days in St. Petersburg, the old name „Leningrad“ still sometimes comes over my lips. Yet modern St. Petersburg has nothing in common with the old Soviet metropolis.

Here is a look into a well-known speciality restaurant in the center of the city:

St. Petersburg is a – for me – surprisingly modern and extremely beautiful city, in which I would like to return again.

Here are some impressions of the main attractions we visited, e.g. the city center, which is all about the upcoming national holiday, the 9th of May, the day of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, the victory over Hitler’s Germany

The Hermitage; a magnificent building in which one would have to spend days to absorb and appreciate everything reasonably. Unfortunately our feet hurt after a few hours:

Nowadays, Moscow is also a modern metropolis that has everything a tourism stronghold can offer today: overwhelming sacred and secular buildings, an architecturally impressive department store, the „GUM“ with luxury goods from all over the world and a vibrant cultural life.
