Hier in Charchorin vermutet man das Zentrum des ehemaligen Mongolenreichs. Hier verlief einst die Seidenstraße. Von hier aus eroberte Dschingis Khan einen großen Teil der damaligen Welt. Heute ist die Stadt in erster Linie ein touristisches Zentrum. Von der alten Hauptstadt gibt es nur noch ein paar Fundamente, wo vermutlich ein zentraler Prachtbau stand:

Unmittelbar davor liegt diese wuchtige Schildkröte, die aus einem Felsbrocken gemeißelt wurde:

Die wichtigste Sehenswürdigkeit ist aber das Kloster Erdene Suu. Es ist heute Museum und – zum Teil – ein aktives Kloster, das auch von Mönchen genutzt wird:

Wir haben das Glück, eine Zeremonie der Mönche beobachten zu können:

Danach machen wir einen Rundgang durch den Markt. Das Angebot ist sehr begrenzt, die Stände und Auslagen sehr einfach und wenig einladend:

Charchorin – El centro del Reino de Mongolia

Acá en la ciudad de Charchorin los históricos sospechan el centro del Reino de Mongolia antiguo.  Por acá paso la ruta de la seda. Desde acá Genghis khan conquisto una gran parte del mundo anterior. Hoy la ciudad es un centro turistico en primer lugar. De la capital antigua solamente quedan unas partes de la base, donde muy probablemente hubo un edificio sacro o un palacio de gloria:

Frente de estos restos históricos hay una tortuga inmensa, que fue cincelado de una sola piedra grande:

La vista mas importante de Charchorin es el monasterio Erdene Suu. Hoy es en parte un museo y también un monasterio activo con monjes.

Tenemos suerte y podemos observar una ceremonia de los monjes.

Después hacemos un paseo por el mercado. La oferta está bastante limitada, los puestos y  las exposiciones  son sencillas y poco attractivas.

Charchorin – The center of the Mongolian Empire

Here in Charchorin the historians suspect the center of the Mongolian Empire. The silk road ran through this place. From here Genghis Khan conquered huge parts oft he old world. Today only a few parts of the foundation remain, where there probably was an important ceremonial building in ancient times:

In front of these remnants there is a massive turtle, which was cut from one big piece of rock.

But the most important sight is the Erdene Suu monastery. Today it is a museum, while parts o fit are still used by monks.

We are lucky and have the opportunity to observe one of their ceremonies:

After visiting the temple we take a turn through the market. The offer is very limited and the stalls and displays are very simple and not very inviting:
