Obwohl Tepozotlán nur ein paar Kilometer außerhalb von Mexiko City liegt, ist dieser Ort nur wenig bekannt. Tepozotlán ist sehr ruhig und recht provinziell. Und es hat einen „Trailer-Park“, wo man sicher stehen und ein paar geruhsame Tage verbringen kann. Die größte Sehenswürdigkeit ist sicher das ehemalige Kloster San Francisco mit der dazugehörigen Kirche (heute ein anerkanntes Weltkulturerbe) und dem Nationalmuseum. Hier mal ein kurzes Video von der Kirche, die heute Teil des Museums ist.

Was für eine unglaubliche Pracht!

Auf dem Markt gibt es natürlich alle möglichen Spezialitäten zum Essen, jede Menge religiöse Andenken und Glücksbringer sowie Kunsthandwerk aller Art; insbesondere während der Karwoche:

Aunque Tepotzolán se ubica solamente a unos cuantos kilómetros de la Ciudad de México, es un sitio muy tranquilo que aún conserva un toque provincial. También hay un buen trailer-park, donde podemos estacionar y pasar unos días tranquilos y seguros. El más famoso atractivo es el Ex Convento de San Francisco Javier con la iglesia, declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO, que también alberga el Museo Nacional del Virreinato, uno de los mejores del país.

Además, en el mercado hay de todo para probar, antojitos y en su plaza todo tipo de artesanías; especialmente durante la semana santa:

Even though Tepozotlán is only a couple of miles away from Mexico City, it is a quiet and rather provincial town, which is not very well known. It has a trailer park, where you can stay with your RV and spend a couple of tranquil days. Its most famous sight is the former San Francisco Convent with the attached church. Both are part of the National Museum today and also a World Cultural Heritage.
